A message from Nick Timothy MP:
“The lack of adequate parking in Newmarket is one of the issues raised with me most often by residents across the town. Earlier in the Autumn, while knocking on doors in Exning Road, Bakers Row and Exeter Road, I heard again how serious a problem it is.
“It is also a significant topic in correspondence I receive from constituents.
“Residents have been using the grass verge next to the access-way in Exning Road to park in the absence of adequate spaces in the area. The decision by the Town Council to install bollards there has brought this issue into sharp focus.
“I understand the lack of provision is made worse when vehicles are left on the Exning Road access-way for long periods. Residents have also told me that, during enforcement visits, some vehicles are found to be untaxed or without a valid MOT. A more robust approach to enforcement is needed to free up spaces for residents.
“I have written to the Town Council to stress the urgent need to address the shortage of parking in the area. I look forward to working with Councillors in addressing this problem.”
