**Forest City update: Suffolk County Council’s secret encouragement to Forest City planners**
My Freedom of Information Request has revealed emails showing the Reform leader of Suffolk County Council Cllr Michael Hadwen has been in correspondence with the developers behind Forest City - offering them a meeting to discuss the project.
Incredibly, a senior council official told a Forest City representative:
“If there’s anything I can support you with, please do let me know. Whether that's making connections, sharing local insight, or following up on any areas of interest from your visit, I'd be very happy to help.”
Suffolk County Council claimed it welcomed the Government’s decision not to support Forest City through the New Towns Programme. Yet these emails show that the Council had already arranged talks about Forest City and how it could engage with the Spatial Development Strategy.
We must not slow down our fight against Forest City.
