For many families driving is a necessity, especially in small towns and villages. This then causes young people to rely on parents, on public transport and favours from friends. This can often mean getting to school, work or simply seeing their friends often depends on whether they can get a lift. With the current legal age to drive at 17, I am arguing for it to be lowered to 16. This will allow young people to rely less on their parents and on public transport when getting to school or work.
