On 18 December 2024, Nick Timothy MP led the speeches in a Westminster Hall debate that he called on the topic of immigration and nationality statistics (view the transcript here).

In his opening speech, Nick argued that mass immigration is the biggest broken promise in British politics, and the biggest single reason why British politics feels so broken. My party has to show contrition for its failure, and that we get it and have a plan to fix things in future.

Nick also noted that the British state seems to have no idea how much different profiles of migrant cost or contribute. It won’t tell us the nationality or immigration status of benefits claimants. Nor the nationality or immigration status of criminals. This must change. (You can view the minister’s reply to Nick’s speech by clicking here).

Nick’s convening of the Westminster Hall debate followed his questions to various ministers on the topic of immigration statistics, including to the Justice Secretary..
