Since being elected Nick Timothy MP has worked hard to represent the residents of West Suffolk in Parliament, including on core commitments in his Contract with West Suffolk.

These included promises to campaign for developers to invest more in communities, for better transport capacity in Mildenhall and a rail link in Haverhill, for a boost in educational and health services, to protect pensioners, for the reindustrialisation of our economy and for lower immigration. During the period between 4 July and 20 December, Nick has:

  • Voted against the Government’s release of thousands of criminals from prisons onto the streets of Britain (on 25 July, here) and in support of the Official Opposition’s motions to reverse the Government’s winter fuel allowance cut (on 10 September, here) and its family farms tax (on 4 December, here) and jobs tax (on 4 December, here).

  • Submitted 176 written parliamentary questions, of which 149 have been answered (to see all of Nick’s written parliamentary questions, click here).

  • Convened and led two Westminster Hall debates, one on horseracing (24 October, see the opening speech here) and one on immigration statistics (18 December, see the opening speech here). Nick also spoke in four more — on illegal immigration (10 September, here), on special educational needs (8 October, here), on the potential security risks posed by Sunnica to Suffolk’s air bases (27 November, here) and on the responsibilities of developers (11 December, here).

  • Spoken in the House of Commons Chamber 44 times on various topics, including interventions on the Government’s approval of Sunnica (here), the family farms tax (here), the winter fuel allowance cuts (here), the impact of the national insurance rise (here), the economy and public finances (here and here), crime, policing and terrorism (here, here and here), assisted suicide (here), the Channel crossings (here), the need for better local transport infrastructure (here and here), international affairs (here), the need to defend free speech (here) and educational standards (here and here).
