Nick Timothy MP slams Government for failure to help British growers and farmers

The Government recently announced the end, at the close of 2025, of the Fruit and Vegetable Aid Scheme which provided matched funding for capital investments and was crucial for the competitiveness of growers. Similar schemes exist in Scotland and Wales and continue in Europe.

On Thursday 3 April 2025 in the House of Commons, Nick Timothy MP asked for an urgent debate on this incredibly foolish decision. The answer that he received will not do anything to reassure or comfort hard-pressed farmers in West Suffolk or across England. There are also delays in the processing of applications to the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund, which helps farmers to improve productivity by investing in new machinery.

This is crucial to assisting farmers increase productivity and plan for the future, and helps the manufacturers of farming equipment, like our own Claydon Drills.

So Mr Timothy wrote to the Minister for Food Security and Rural Affairs, Daniel Zeichner, to ask him to sort out the holdups. If you would like to read the letter, please click below.
