Nick Timothy, the MP for West Suffolk, has submitted objections to planning applications for solar farms in Whepstead and Cavendish.
While standing against the massive Sunnica solar and battery farm near Newmarket and Mildenhall, and taking on the Government in the House of Commons over its failure to protect the public from the potential risks of battery energy storage systems (see his speech here), Mr Timothy is also making clear his opposition to the range of solar farm applications that are proliferating across West Suffolk.
He is standing with residents in opposing proposed solar farms on farmland in Cavendish and Whepstead.
Commenting, Mr Timothy said: “I am opposed to all ground-mounted solar applications. It is bad energy policy, because Britain is the worst country in the world for solar. It is bad farming policy, because we shouldn’t sacrifice our best land. And it is bad for local people — it is an attack on our beautiful countryside and will mean we get higher bills. Suffolk should not pay the price for the ideology of Ed Miliband and Keir Starmer.“
