Nick Timothy MP visited D Gurteen & Sons Ltd menswear at Chauntry Mills on 30 September. After the visit, Mr Timothy said:

“I was delighted to visit a real Haverhill institution recently — D Gurteen & Sons Ltd, a business that was established in the 1780s and played an enormous role in the development of the town.

“I loved hearing the history of the business and its retail operation for modern premium menswear. Its building, at Chauntry Mills — just off the High Street — even has its own museum with a trove of treasures from the company’s history in Haverhill.

“We discussed the modern-day challenges faced by companies like Gurteen’s, which are contending with a stagnant economy and rising employment costs.”
