Why would the Education Secretary refuse to congratulate the best state school in England?

On Monday 9 December 2024, Nick Timothy MP asked the Education Secretary, Bridget Phillipson, to congratulate Katharine Birbalsingh CBE, founder and head teacher of Michaela Community School, on her school’s excellent results. However, she declined to do so. Why? Because the school stands for strong discipline, a knowledge-rich curriculum and teacher-led instruction — and therefore confounds the Government’s dogma. Sad, but revealing.
