On Tuesday 11 March 2025, Nick Timothy MP spoke on the Government’s Employment Rights Bill in the House of Commons. He put forward an amendment to stop Deliveroo visas, which enable big taxi and delivery firms to indirectly employ immigrants with no right to work here through ‘substitution clauses’. These clauses are behind rampant immigration crime and labour market abuse. His amendment would make the big firms take responsibility for who works for them — just like any other employer. The minister offered some warm words but it remains to be seen if the Government will listen and accept Mr Timothy’s proposal.
