On Monday 7 April 2025, Nick Timothy MP raised the electric vehicle mandate in the House of Commons with the Transport Secretary.
It is not just that this policy means firms will be fined for making the “wrong” cars. It is that the National Grid and local distribution networks already lack the capacity to handle increasing demand for electricity.
We see this here in Suffolk — where for example the local ambulance trust is struggling to upgrade its connections while being told to electrify its fleet by the NHS — and it is true across the country.
