The Government’s rush to decarbonise the grid means more hidden costs, more curtailment payments, more balancing payments and more subsidies.
In an exchange with the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Energy, Michael Shanks on 18 March 2025, Nick Timothy MP spoke from the Opposition despatch box in pointing out that the Government is also planning to potentially TRIPLE the carbon price to European levels, adding hundreds of pounds to families’ bills and decimating British industry.
And the Government are refusing to repeat their promise to cut energy bills by £300 by the end of the Parliament.
