Nick Timothy, the MP for West Suffolk, thanked ambulance volunteers who give their time to help people here in Haverhill.
He met East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST)’s volunteer community first responders when he stopped by Haverhill’s Ambulance Station just off Camps Road on Friday 6 June 2025.
Along with those who contribute to the regular ambulance service in Haverhill, he met military co-responders based at RAF Honington, who now regularly travel to Haverhill when on-shift to help respond to calls.

Speaking after the visit, Mr Timothy said: “I was very glad to meet and thank the volunteers who generously give up their time to help others in and around Haverhill. These are community champions who do something extraordinary — and who make a huge difference — with their spare time.”
He added:“Haverhill has a strong community spirit, and these volunteers are a brilliant example of that. Whether it is volunteering as a community engagement group member, a community first responder, volunteer car driver or a Welfare Wagon volunteer, there is something for everyone who wants to volunteer with the EEAST.”

Mr Timothy continued:“It is also great to see such effective collaboration between our community’s public services and military personnel from one of our local air bases.”
The EEAST serves more than six million people across the East of England region. Its team includes over 5,000 staff and more than 1,200 volunteers. Despite being in West Suffolk, Haverhill comes under the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough sector because the closest Accident and Emergency hospital is Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge.
There are three Emergency Operations Centres located in Bedford, Chelmsford and Norwich,, 485 front line ambulances, 72 rapid response vehicles, 178 non-emergency ambulances and 53 Hazardous Area Response Team/major incident/resilience vehicles.
