The Government recently announced the end, at the close of 2025, of the Fruit and Vegetable Aid Scheme which provided matched funding for capital investments and was crucial for the competitiveness of growers. Similar schemes exist in Scotland and Wales and continue in Europe.

There are also delays in the processing of applications to the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund, which helps farmers to improve productivity by investing in new machinery.
