Nick Timothy, the MP for West Suffolk, is working in Parliament to honour the commitments made in his Contract with West Suffolk. He notes: “As the turnout at the general election on 4th July showed, trust in politics and in the democratic process is understandably low. On all sides, too many candidates have made promises and then broken them — hoping the public forgets what they said or moves on. I consider this utterly corrosive, and I want to do things differently. I want to ask you to use this document to hold me to account as I carry out work as your MP. If I fail to keep my commitments, vote me out at the next election.”

1. How I will represent you in Parliament

I WILL ARGUE AND VOTE FOR:

1.1 Immigration to be cut to a bare minimum
1.2. Criminals to be locked up for longer
1.3. The pensions triple lock to be protected
1.4. A better-funded National Health Service
1.5. The re-industrialisation of our economy

2. How I will work to improve our community

I WILL TAKE A LEAD AND WORK WITH OTHERS TO:

2.1 Require more investment and accountability from developers
2.2 Revive our high streets
2.3. Campaign for a rail link from Haverhill to Cambridge
2.4. Demand a relief road for Mildenhall
2.5. Improve access to local services and amenities

Nick makes the case for dualling line to Cambridge

Saturday, 13 June, 2026
On 9 June 2026, Nick Timothy MP submitted his response to the official consultation on East-West Rail, pressing for double track on the full Cambridge–Newmarket line. At an estimated £73 million, it would transform and enhance connectivity. This makes sense – not least because of the limit
