The Education Secretary has expressly refused to rule out scrapping Standard Assessment Tests (SATS) at the end of Key Stage 2, Nick said on BBC Politics Live (11 November 2024). “This is exactly what I mean about this movement towards a set of policies that I think will send us backwards and will strip back the kinds of changes” that allowed for the improvement in standards which occurred under the previous Conservative Government.
