On 1 May 2025, Nick Timothy asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Gareth Thomas, whether it was government policy to decrease the trade deficit over the course of the Parliament.
He noted that the failure to export more than we import brings severe economic consequences.
The answer was not satisfactory.
