A message from Nick Timothy MP:
Thank you to everyone who took part in my asylum housing survey. The results are clear: 84 percent of respondents agree that residents should be informed when illegal immigrants are housed in their area. The current situation – in which this happens with no transparency or consultation – is completely wrong. My view is simple: anyone entering Britain illegally should be deported immediately, no exceptions. A summary of the results can be found below.
If you would still like to take part in the survey, please click here.
Best wishes

- The question: “As of December 2025, over 100,000 people were housed in taxpayer-funded asylum accommodation in England and Wales. Current law requires the taxpayer to provide this support – even for many who entered illegally by small boat and some failed asylum seekers. Do you agree with this policy?“: 84 per cent said no they do not agree.

2. The question: “When a constituent recently asked West Suffolk District Council about a local property being used for asylum accommodation, the Council refused to disclose details, citing risks to the safety and mental health of asylum seekers and staff. Do you believe local families have the right to know when asylum housing opens in their neighbourhood?” 84 per cent said yes.

3. This question: “Since the start of 2018, nearly 200,000 people have entered the country in small boats via the English Channel. Do you support proper border control and redirecting the billions spent on asylum housing to other national priorities?” 86 per cent of those who responded said yes.

4. The question: “If you answered ‘Yes’ to question 3, which of these would you most like to see the money spent on instead? (Please rank the following options below in terms of priority by putting a number from one to eight next to the option).” The top three answers were a) international aid b) infrastructure (e.g. rail upgrades) c) special educational needs and disabilities learning support and d) road maintenance and pothole repairs.
