No to Forest City – Sign the Petition HERE

Some London property developers have proposed building a new city of one million people in the middle of West Suffolk, between Newmarket and Haverhill. The proposal would erase ancient villages like Cowlinge, Great Thurlow, and Withersfield, destroying vast tracts of irreplaceable countryside and productive farmland to serve Cambridge – a city with a population of just 150,000. This is mad. Many residents have already joined the campaign to stop it and protect our area.

We do need new homes, and I’m not a NIMBY. But the answer to Cambridge’s growth isn’t building a commuting conurbation far bigger than Cambridge itself. Development must be sensible, in the right places, delivering good family homes – not schemes like this. That’s why I’ve started this petition.

The people behind this scheme have even threatened to take me to court. But I am NOT going to be silenced by their attempt to intimidate me. My job is to stand up for YOU. And if they wrongly claim the support of any organisations I am going to call them out for it.
