As winter approaches, the cost of oil has increased to over £1.15 per litre, compared to 84p per litre in July. More than four times as many people living in Suffolk as the rest of the country heat their homes with oil.
I have fought hard for residents dependent on heating oil since I was elected. Concerned by examples of price gouging by the heating oil companies, I surveyed people living in West Suffolk and took the results to the Competition and Markets Authority. The CMA investigated, found many customers deserved compensation and proposed new protections for customers.
